Diane McDonald's parents emigrated from England, but Diane and her younger brother were born and raised in Perth WA but also lived in Albany and Bunbury. Brisbane has now been Diane's home for many years with Diane painting on a full time basis from her Brisbane studio.

Diane's first solo exhibition was in October 2016 at the Percolator gallery in Paddington. Diane has recently completed an artist in residence at the Tweed Regional gallery, Nancy Fairfax AIR, NSW and a finalist in 2019 Glover Art Prize.

Diane's art is from the heart......she takes loads of photos while travelling and stores them as reference materials. However, Diane's artworks are often created by a combination of her memory, reference material and imagination...... Each piece evolves differently as it is being created..... Diane hopes to evoke happy memories within her viewers.
